iGene Passport: what do we screen for?

In your iGene Passport you will find reports on a wide range of diseases in which genetic predisposition plays a role. You will also find information on your sensitivity to certain active substances in drugs and on various personal characteristics and features.

Below you can see the diseases, active substances and personal characteristics about which we currently provide information. More diseases, substances and characteristics will be added to this list as soon as scientific developments allow. See also the scientific model that we employ.

Preventing hereditary diseases thanks to knowledge of your DNA

If you request an iGene Passport, we will screen your DNA for the diseases indicated below. These are all diseases that you can help to prevent yourself. If it becomes apparent that you have a genetic predisposition to one of these diseases, you will also receive targeted prevention advice.

 

Predicting the effectiveness of drugs

We also screen your DNA to determine your sensitivity to certain active substances in drugs. This screening covers the following substances and drugs:

Many personal characteristics and external features are also determined in part by your genes. We screen your DNA for the following characteristics and features:

 

What do we NOT screen for?

We do NOT screen your DNA for diseases that you cannot (yet) help to prevent yourself. These include the following diseases:

  • ALS
  • Asthma
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Depression
  • Diabetes type 1
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Hodgkin's disease
